About Us
The Name
When starting anything new, it is always wise to choose a self-evident truth as the name of your new venture. If you do, even your enemies cannot argue with the basic premise of your existence.
We shortlisted two obviously true statements: “The Sun rises in the East” and “Artists Are Cool”. We almost went with the first of these, but it was ultimately rejected because A. It has nothing to do with Art and B. It’s not always true. For example, on Venus, the Sun rises in the West.
But Artists are Cool on Venus, on Mars, on the Earth, and on Sagittarius A. At least, they would be cool on Sgr A if they could get past its event horizon.
So yes, we’re called Artists Are Cool because, you know, artists are cool.
What We Do
We create profiles of awesome artists (painters, sculptors, musicians, dancers, poets, writers, actors, and many more) in multiple formats, including short video documentaries and long-form text and image features. We focus on their stories and on how they create their art.
